HEALTH CARE

before surgery

Serving the 3 levels: Primary, Secondary and Tertiary, as described below:

PRIMARY LEVEL OF HEALTH CARE — PREVENTION

The primary or basic level of health care concentrates actions related to reducing the risk of diseases and protecting health.

For this to be possible, health units must ensure that routine examinations and consultations are carried out, with the presence of generalist professionals in the team.

It is also very important that hospital managers make a systematic plan of actions aimed at educating patients, investing in campaigns to promote health and the well-being of the community.

SECONDARY LEVEL OF HEALTH CARE — SPECIALIZED TREATMENT

The secondary level of health care is formed by hospitals and clinics responsible for offering specialized treatment to the population, guaranteeing access to clinics in pediatrics, cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, psychiatry, gynecology and other medical specialties.

The secondary level is also responsible for ensuring the structuring of urgent and emergency hospital services.

For this, hospitals will have devices capable of performing more detailed examinations, such as an endoscopy.

In addition to investing in modern equipment to support the definition of diagnoses, managers must be aware of the use of technology to improve patient care from the appointment or arrival at the hospital to the follow-up after the medical intervention.

TERTIARY LEVEL OF HEALTH CARE — SURGERY AND REHABILITATION

Finally, at the tertiary level of health care, high-complexity services are gathered, represented by large hospitals and high-complexity clinics.

In this sphere, professionals are highly qualified to carry out interventions that interrupt situations that put patients' lives at risk. These are more invasive surgeries and exams, which require the most advanced health technology.

In other words, the tertiary level aims to guarantee the minimum support necessary to preserve patients' lives in cases where secondary care was not enough for this.

Once again, the personalization of health care is very important, in view of the fragility with which the patient presents himself when his life is really threatened, either by a chronic disease or by a serious sequel of a accident.
